The district-wide chess program provides students the opportunity to showcase their problem-solving and critical thinking skills at chess tournaments and UIL Chess Puzzle competitions.

The University Interscholastic League provides 23 high school and 17 elementary and middle school academic competitions that complement the academic curriculum. Students are challenged to think critically, exhibiting much more than knowledge and comprehension.

Robotics Team

The VEX IQ Robotics Competition provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics challenges that enhance their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning. The VEX IQ Robotics Competition fosters student development of the teamwork, critical thinking, project management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.

Debate Team

Fifth graders from across the District will participate in debate workshops, scrimmages, and district-wide tournaments. The elementary debate program enhances students’ critical thinking and public speaking skills through thoughtful, persuasive, and civil arguments.

Loan Star Challenge Team

Lone Star Challenge is the elementary competition equivalent to Academic Decathlon and Academic Pentathlon. Lone Star is a theme-based four-event scholastic team competition wherein Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students match their intellect with students from other schools. Nine-member teams are comprised of 3 Fourth Grade Students, 3 Fifth Grade Students, and 3 Sixth Grade Students.
